Richard III and the Battle of Bosworth Reenactment

Image: Richard III and the Battle of Bosworth

We went in to Leicester by the Park and Ride service from our latest caravan site near Lutterworth. The main reason for this trip was to see the Battle of Bosworth re-enactment on the original location.

The Guildhall has an exhibition about the discovery of the body of Richard III. Pat and Rosie are seen looking at a flat display with a touch-screen explanation of what Richard's skeleton tells us about him. Rosie took photograph of the car park where his body was found - actually out of sight to the right.  There are more excavations under way there. To the left and beyond is a building earmarked for a museum about Richard III. The plan is to rebury Richard in Leicester Cathedral in the area shown, in the chancel.  The model shows the framework of the in where the king spent his last night in Leicester before proceeding to the site of the battle.  The building was demolished many years ago.  The model was carefully researched and then constructed using a 3D printer.
