Scarborough

From the first year of the course in 1992 up to 2000 we took first year students to Scarborough for an early residential. Besides studying tourism in a traditional English destination the students got to know each other better and leanred more of the style of university life. These photos - mostly quick snapshots - were taken on various visits.

Image: Scarborough - South Bay

Seen from the Spa Conference and Entertainment Centre, this is South Bay. The Grand Hotel is prominent to the left, the Castle just visible on top of the headland dividing the South from the North Bay. It's October. Remember the beach games - management-training tasks that were great fun and intrigued passers-by?

Anyone recognise these three? At the Millennium Centre, in a display about Scarborough tourism. The Centre was a good attraction which told the story of the resort over a thousand years, but it did not prove such a success with the town's traditional visitors, and closed some years later. This was 1995.

Peter Smith, the General Manager of the Sealife Centre, gave an enthusiastic talk about the attraction.
